K-12 School Improves Indoor Air Quality With Carrier’s Abound IoT Platform
School district looking to improve indoor air quality and environmental conditions, as well as provide occupants with real-time air quality information in classrooms.
The Challenge
Metro Atlanta’s Cherokee County School District (CCSD) was looking to improve air quality and environmental conditions, while providing students, teachers, and staff with real-time visibility into the air quality data in K-12 classrooms.
The Implementation
CCSD partnered with Carrier to implement the Abound™ platform in two buildings covering 37,000 square feet. The platform integrates with their Automated Logic® WebCTRL® building automation system (BAS), along with indoor air quality (IAQ) sensors, and provides real-time insights about air quality, thermal comfort and energy usage. Abound monitors air quality data in line with the WELL Building Standard™ and provides alerts if the temperature, humidity, CO2, VOCs, PM2.5, and radon move outside of normal ranges.
The Results
With Abound in place, the maintenance staff has been able to make quick, confident decisions that optimize the comfort and health of their indoor spaces-resulting in fewer complaints.
